ADELAIDE SWORDS CLUB NEWSLETTER
Term 2 Classes start back this Saturday 2 May 2026!
Greetings fencers and fencing families it's already the start of term 2! This year has been busy with lots of fencers in the club on Monday, Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings! We've also met lovely new people in the kids and adults beginner classes. If you are a past member and haven't been in for a while we would love to see you back. I think we can all agree fencing is more fun than the gym, an excellent way to keep fit, and be social with the added attraction of getting to hit people with swords!

Early bird closes 4pm (Sydney time) 2 May, 2026. Entries for this event must be made via the AFF JustFence system. You need to have an account in JustFence, with your membership from your state added. If you have not accessed JustFence before, you will need to create an account. Fencers in SA need to ensure they have purchased their membership in their states system, and their state needs to transfer the membership to JustFence. The AFF also has a new Education Plan that requires fencers to complete Sport Integrity Australia (SIA) courses - notably the anti-doping one. If you are planning to enter this competition give yourself time to allow for completing and uploading the required documents.
The term 3 classes start back on the 26th July and enrolments for the classes are now open. Saturday Pirates 9am, Saturday Extension 10am and Saturday Extension 11am. Please contact Connor at coaching@adelaideswordsclub.org.au if you think your fencer is ready to move into a different class
Changes to Club Schedule
We are not offering the coach led teen 6.30 -7.30 session on Monday nights this term. In it's place will be regular warm up, games and footwork sessions starting at 6.45pm on Monday and Wednesday nights followed by open bouting.
Equipment guide
We are often asked about what gear to buy and from where. Please ask the coaches and committee for advice as we understand it can be confusing to know what to buy and where to start. Given there are no fencing shops in Australia and most things are coming from overseas it's good to consider how much your child may grow and where they, or you, are planning to fence so that you buy the right standard of gear for your fencing.
All the best,
The ASC Committee
